I went the other day to the mall with an acquaintance of mine and she thought that her service that she received was horrible (which it wasn't at all). She started to make a scene at the make-up counter and asked for the manager so she could formally complain about her service. I was totally embarrassed, for her as well for me. Should I have let her go on and on, or should I have said something to diffuse the situation?
I stayed silent, trying to ignore her and just went on with my sales lady. After about her five minutes of complaining, we walked off together and I was mortified! I tried to talk to her about what had just happened, but it did no good. This is the second time that something like this has happened to me while I have been out with her, and I really don't know what to do about it. Notice I said she was an acquaintance, not like a really good friend. What's even worse is that she was in the customer service business for like 10 years! Go figure.
How should I handle the situation if it ever comes up again?

Tackle her to the ground while yelling, "Hey, Ms. Demanding, you're being SERVED."
Sorry. That was lame.
Maybe she'll read this...problem solved :-)
I was wondering if she would read this but I would say to avoid places where service is expected and then she won't be upset about nothing, and you won't be embarrassed.
Don't pick on your mom like that!!!!!!!
Gary, I'm pretty sure she was talking about me.
By the way: If I start a blog about the happenings here in Denver, what should I call it? I leave it to you, darling Lindsay, to come up with a name. (Don't let me down. It better be good or I'm not signing that best friend extension contract.)
Maybe just tell her you don't want to hang out with her if she's going to embarrass you (and herself) like that. I wouldn't be afraid to say something, and if she doesn't listen, then it's kinda like being a parent...there are consequences. She doesn't get to play with Lyndsay anymore. :o)
