One in Twenty-five.

My aunt Debbie was down visiting from Boston last week, and she was reading this book called "The Sociopath Next Door." She gave it to me to read, and now I'm beginning to think that everyone I know is a sociopath. This book claims that 4 percent of people are sociopaths. That's a lot of whacked out people, don't you think?

Just to clarify, my next door neighbor is not a sociopath. She has a conscious. I know it.

Forgive my ignorance, what is the (book's) definition of a Sociopath?

Unless I'm missing something, 4% is not THAT many people to cause any kind of worry. I'd venture to say unless you go to Disneyland on a very crowded day you'll probably not run into many.

A sociopath is someone, according to the book, that does not have a conscience. It's hard to believe that it's even possible. Who knows. It's still interesting, even if it's a load of crap. 4 percent is about one every 25 people. That's a lot.

I'm with Lindsay. I'll be doing background checks on every 25 person I meet just to be sure.

After 1.5 months at my current job, I'm beginning to believe the statistic is closer to 30%.
