It's that time of the year...

Tomorrow I have to sit in my student's life science class and watch the "Human Reproduction Video" with all of the seventh grade boys.

Pray for me.

A cure for motion sickness...

This post is dedicated to Stephen, Tyler, and Jesse. These three guys kept me entertained the whole way down the mountain yesterday with this super hard riddle that I was determined to figure out.

They were so engaging, I didn't even need my Dramamine!

Here's it is:

A man walks into a restaurant and orders a fried pelican sandwich. He takes one bite and immediately gets up, leaves the restaurant and shoots himself dead.

Why did he take his own life?

I figured it out, but only after asking about 984 "yes or no"questions.

Today I shared the riddle with my family. It took 10 of them about an hour to solve the riddle. Good times!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Is it better to give or receive?

Jason and I received a gift card a while back for Johnny Carino's, a tasty Italian food restaurant here in Downey. So, since today was my big "weigh-in" for May, I wanted to pig out tonight. Our gift card was for $40.00, and we were left with a balance of $3.63.

On our way out, I stopped by a table and I offered them my card. I told them how much the balance was, and they looked at me like I was a crazy person. Then the man at the table said thank you, and I told them to have a good night.

We then went to grab some coffee, and I did the same thing to the couple behind us in line. The balance was only $0.38, but I figured that any little bit would help. She told me, "No, it's okay, I really don't need it," but then her boyfriend piped up saying, "Just take it." They didn't say thank you on their way out, and so I figured that they thought maybe I was crazy, too.

I've always made it a rule of mine that if I have a gift card balance of less than $5.00, that I give it away to someone else in that establishment.

I find it really interesting the way that some people react to strangers, especially if that stranger is nice to them. I'm not writing this to toot my own horn, but just to bring up the fact that we, as a society, are not as nice to one another as we should be. Let's bring back kindness, folks!

It felt good to do something nice today for someone I didn't know.

Try it sometime, you might just brighten someone's day.
Who cares if they think you are wacko.

I got a present.

Jason took me shopping in Pasadena yesterday. I received a retro check from work last week, and he said that I could spend my money however I wanted. Well, this is what I decided on:

I love it.

Wyld Stallions, remember them?

I went to work today and got paid to watch Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Seriously. Armando's Social Studies teacher turned that totally awesome movie into a lesson on historical figures. The kids learned all about Joan of Ark, Napoleon, Sigmund Freud, and Socrates.

If it's been more than 10 years since you've seen that movie, I recommend that you Netflix it ASAP.

And who says learning isn't fun??
